Removing Errors in an Audio Track in Audacity
We made a mistake when recording our track. Let's go back and fix it now!
Click the TV to see video version.
Make sure your Audacity project called First Recording is open.
Listen to your recording by clicking on the PLAY button in the Controls Toolbar.
Can you find the mistake we made at the end of our recording? When we started the last sentence we said, "I want to," and then we started again with, "This is my first recording in Audacity." We need to remove the words I want to from our recording. You will often make a little mistake when recording. Rather than start over and over again, you can just edit the mistakes later. That's what we'll do now.
Find the beginning of the words "I want to." (This will be towards the end of the track.)
Now click the PLAY button and find where the end of the phrase "I want to" comes on the track. Click in front of I and drag across the track to just after the word to to select this phrase.
Now just click the SCISSORS on the toolbar (or you can just press the Backspace key on your keyboard) and you will remove the words you didn't want. You can press the Skip to Start button on the Control Toolbar to go back to the beginning of your track and listen. It should be just about perfect now. If you need to remove other annoying things from the track, do so now.
DON'T FORGET TO SAVE by selecting Save Project from the File Menu. Save often!
